Scalloped Fringe Dress

This dress was inspired by my desire to do a crossover loungewear/special occasion dress. Are you meant to wear it to a wedding or to bed? You decide! All I can say is that is so comfy you won’t want to take it off, and so glamorous that you will feel extra special wearing it.

I was inspired by the scallop patterns I kept seeing looking at Art Deco fashion, and had a lot of fun interpreting that into knitting using short rows and tuck stitches. This stitch pattern naturally lent itself to color and gradation, and I experimented a lot with creating a progression of colors reminiscent of a sunset and inspired by my watercoloring.

To get the smooth gradation I was looking for, I played a lot with plating yarns together. I used a metallic yarn throughout the entire dress to create cohesion, and switched up the dominance of it to create a graceful flow of colors.

The fringe was a fun finishing touch, simply tied onto each picot of the hemline. Braided straps are tied into a bow at the shoulder for a delicate feminine touch.
